RE: TC, ATV's and boondocking...
quick ??? here! my wife loves the yamaha 400 EF 4X4, so do I, but someone said since Im 240 lbs I need a bigger CC, like 500? or can the 400 do it too?
We will ride it in the rocky mountians as MikeJinCO was saying...
And yes thats what soo great having the TC hauling them toys....
A 400 will do just fine, get you every where a 700 will and almost as fast. I used to have a 400 and I'm 280.
RE: TC, ATV's and boondocking...
My wife loves riding the Grizzly, with or with out me. She keeps up fine when she is driving by herself and very rarely needs any help. Just make sure and get her something she is comfortable on(another thumbs up for powersteering).
RE: What can you Tow with a F150 4x4 SS Crew Cab L5.4
You got an increase with 4.56 rears?
I know, it blows my mind as well. I did a lot of reading on several forums for a year before I finally made up my mind. On speeds over 65 it hurts me, but I hardly ever go over that for any extended amount of time. The 4.56's help me get my 35's rolling and keep them rolling, plus the other toys I added helped as well I'm sure. As long as I keep my foot off the floor, except when playing, it seems to be helping.
RE: What can you Tow with a F150 4x4 SS Crew Cab L5.4
I was averaging 17.6 on my daily commute of 23 miles each way at about 60mph. I averaged about 11 pulling my Hybrid loaded with my Grizzly, around 7,500pnds over some pretty tall passes, 10,000+ and most pulling done at 8,000+. Last weekend I added a AEM Brute Force CIA, a 3" Flowmaster exhaust, 4.56 gears, Mag-Hytec diff cover, and am impatiently waiting for my custom tunes for my Edge/Gryphon from Power Hungry Performance. With everything but the tunes, I've increased my daily commute to 19.8. And it sounds oh so good.
RE: 2007 Travel Star 21SSD slide out not working
It will not have a typical small plug in fuse. Look for a circuit breaker. It should look like: this
Hmmmm.... didn't see any thing like that on the panel, but I'll look again when I get home, thanks.
2007 Travel Star 21SSD slide out not working
Went out to get ready for a camping trip and the rocker switch didn't produce any results, not in or out. So I took off the kick panel on the sofa to access the motor and used a voltage tester to see if I was getting any power to the motor, answer was no. Moved to the switch, no power. Checked the fuse, it was fine. Went outside and crawled under to where all the wiring runs along the axle, no power. I'm far from handy when it comes to electrical problems. I had the trailer plugged in, every single other thing works except the slide out. Did I miss something? Could the wiring to the slide out some how have got disconnected to the breaker box? Any ideas? Thanks.
RE: how many would buy a HTT with or without slide?
I guess it comes down to the money and extra weight is all. Those are the only bad reasons I can think of, unless you are worried about future mechanical issues that may or may not happen. We absolutely love the extra room and haven't had a single issue with ours.

How do we carry our bikes?

Holy Cow!!! I'm impressed. I know money and size always comes into play, but did you look at something with a deck on it?
RE: Toy hauler vs. hybrid trailer
The wife hates the smell of gas and oil, so a inclosed toy hauler was out of the question. I can haul two four wheelers on the front of my Travel Star, it's light, and I love it.
RE: I need help with the "toys" toy haulers
There are way to many choices and you really can't make a bad one. Every one has a camo option and most have locking diffs, which he will want. Another thing to look for is independent long-travel four-wheel suspension, makes for a much smoother ride. I have a Yamaha Grizzly 700 with electric power steering, I know it sounds hoakie, but it is so nice on those day long rides. I'm 6'-3" and 280 as well and for me it's the perfect fit, the wife loves riding double with me much better than on my old Honda. One thing I like about mine is that it weighs a lot less than Polaris's and Arctic Cat's. But like I said, you can't go wrong with any of them.
RE: Pembroke Welsh Corgi questions
As some one mentioned earlier, they are long, so when they get older you have to be more careful with them to prevent back problems. For Telly, anything under 2'-6" is fair game, floor board of my jacked up truck, back of the Explorer, on top the bed (bad dog), into the trailer in a single bound, etc..... He is a good judge of what he can and can't do, on some of our more rugged hikes he'll wait patiently for me to either put him on top of the next ledge or lift him down to the next ledge (you have to be paying attention because he'll jump into your arms before you are expecting it so he can move on to the next interesting thing to investigate). He needs brushed once a week, all the swimming he does helps a lot in the summer.
RE: Colorado snow levels for Memorial Day
So this is what I find leaving the office headed home to hook up the trailer. Nothing like haveing some snow falling on May 22nd to make hooking up the trailer a joy.:R I'm sure it will still be a great weekend, what camping trip isn't great? Just thought I'd throw in this last snow level report before heading out.

RE: Pembroke Welsh Corgi questions
I've had dogs my whole life, and while I've loved everyone of them, Telly is my favorite. He is a 3 year old and the best dog I have ever had, not to mention smartest... sometimes too smart. My mother had several while I was growing up, but this is my first. They love other dogs, love kids, and love to swim, play, and sit on your lap. They have endless energy, Telly has hiked a few 14'ers with me, but are not over hyper. He is a good watch dog, but doesn't bark to much unless he is very excited. My wife got a baby Rot named Sam when Telly was about 1 1/2, they are now best friends. Great little dogs in my opinion.

RE: Memorial Day Weekend - Who's going and where poll?
Headed up a little canyon to a nice boondocking site about 4 miles East of Blue Mesa Reservoir tomorrow night. Should be a fun weekend even though it is a blizzard outside right now, should only be rain down the canyon. There is still way to much snow up at my usual hang out spot up by Spring Creek Reservoir just below Taylor Park. Everybody have a safe and fun Memorial Day weekend!:B
RE: Colorado snow levels for Memorial Day
Nahhhhhh, a little snow never hurt anybody. I'm a little bit worried about flooding, the Gunnison is now over it's bank in a lot of areas. But as far as the weather is concerned, I always make sure I can get my family out of where ever we are camped no matter what mother nature wants to throw at us.
RE: Colorado snow levels for Memorial Day
Dan, I had a graduation dinner to go to last night so I didn't get any pictures taken. But I did swing by a few of the sites after dark, was very cool with the almost full moon, and they are looking good, no snow what so ever and the trees and grass are nice and green. It's a nice back up plan if your other places fall through. We'll be heading out Friday night to camp, so if you see a black jacked up F150 and a Travel Star, stop in and say Hi.
RE: Colorado snow levels for Memorial Day
Thumper, you rock!!!
Thanks for all that work.No problem. The Gunnison NF Ranger told me road 742 was closed where it turns to dirt jsut north of 209 (Cottonwood Pass Rd). Did you happen to notice that? He must have not been up there for a few days, I didn't see any closed road signs and a few of the locals were up doing spring cleaning at their cabins. The dirt road was like the paved in a few areas where only one lane was plowed, but it was open as far as I could see. We usually like going to Pothole #2, but it may still be frozen, too? Sorry, didn't make it up that far, but I assume there will be a little ice on it also.
Also considering the area around Saguach Park, Mc Donough, or Dome Lake. Any thoughts on that? Can't help you with the other two, but MC Donough Reservoir should be great and less snow and cold this time of year even though it's the same elevation as Taylor give or take. Plus there are some great boondocking sites. I read that Big Blue is 60 feet lower than high water level. That's true, it looks funny it is so low, but that isn't stopping all the recreators. Is that filling quick? It's starting to, the Gunnison is flowing big time. Maybe I should go retreive the fishing rod/reel I sacrificed to the fishing gods last Memorial Day. Probably to late, I've seen at least 5 people out there with metal detectors.
I am very open to the area around Gunnison. I would like to keep my drive from C-470/Quebec in Denver to ~4 hours, but am flexible on that. We plan to leave Denver Thursday at 4:00 PM so I would like to have some daylight in a newer to us area. I'll do some more scouting tonight at some of the lower sites and see what they look like, I'll post some more pics tonight. There is some super "canyon" boondocking sites up 31 off of 149 within a few miles of Blue Mesa. Gets a little dry later in the year, but in the spring it can't be beat. Nice streams, ton's of roads to explore, not very many people, etc.....Let me know if you have any more questions.
Thanks for your help!
RE: Colorado snow levels for Memorial Day
Sorry Dan, got busy last night and didn't get the photos downloaded. But here they are in all their glory. Most of our boondocking sites down by the lake are actually open and a lot up by the Italian Creek trail head are even open till you get in the heavy timber. You might want to bring your ice skates for the lake and the road is a little narrow in places. I'm sure they will have it plowed all the way by this weekend and if the days stay as warm as it was yesterday, more of the lake will be melted. There were a few die hards out yesterday in the limited open water. Most campgrounds were open between Almont and Taylor with the rest to be open by Friday. I know of some awesome boondocking sites that are snow free and beautiful within a 30 mile radius of Gunnison, so if you get desperate, let me know and I'll fill you in.

CDOT = Slackers, kidding, a trailer will fit no problem, just make sure nobody is coming from the other direction. And like I said, I'm sure they will have it plowed by this weekend.
